Momma's birthday

This year daddy hid the credit card so we couldn’t go shopping fro momma’s birthday. Drats! Maybe next year we’ll be back at Tiffany’s.

Instead, this year daddy bought mommy pretty orange flowers. (Actually, said Brown, those are peach roses) and a big bottle of perfume, (Bulgari Jasmin Noir, to be exact, said Brown.) It makes her smell delicious! PLUS daddy took her to dinner at COCO500 AND on a shopping spree! We’re sure she had a really awesome birthday, because she smiled all weekend long.

But something tells us, she still likes a little blue box better.

Happy Halloween!

This year we each got a new toy rather than candy for Halloween-Flat, yellow, evil kitties. Yesss! Mommy thought it was better for our teeth. But the way we play, daddy's not so sure!

Fleet Week: Now Daddy's Favorite Weekend too!

Mommy & Daddy had friends over for a roof party. We had to stay in the condo, but could hear the noise flying above. Daddy snapped a ton of pictures.
Wahhhooooooo! Sooooooo cool!

I (Rocco) want to be a fighter pilot when I grow up!

Happy birthday Daddy!

Today is daddy's birthday and he & mommy are dressed up to go out to dinner. They're walking to Cortez near Union Square. We can't wait till they get home with our doggy bag! Our mouths are already watering!

Our arch nemesis: The Sheltie

By now you know we really are not found of other dogs. We tolerate each other…and we try & be good when Luna and Lester visit. But we REALLLY go ballistic when we run into Pip, the Sheltie that lives in our building.

Mommy says Pip is a gentle lad with very good manners. He barely gives us a second glance when we launch into our ear piercing barking-in-unison. And he never, ever barks back.

We think he’s a scaredy-cat. Or maybe just old and hard of hearing.

Mommy thinks we’re frightened by other dogs and barking is our defense mechanism. We really thought mommy was smarter than that…

Who tooted?

This morning when I (Rocco) was laying on the bed waiting for daddy to get dressed to take us potty, I tooted. Whoops. Daddy busted me, so I quickly looked around as if to say: What was that? I guess he didn’t fall for it…instead he started laughing and told mommy.

I wish I could tell him: "It’s your fault! Hurry up, I gotta go!”

Brownie's afraid of her shadow!

Today Mommy was working in the office and enjoying the sun shining in. I (Brownie) jumped up on the couch next to her….I like being close to her. But what I saw when I got there was very strange…almost frightening. There on the couch was a blob right in front of me and it kept following me to wherever I moved. I couldn’t lie down because it was right there.

Mommy couldn’t figure out what was scaring me…she just kept watching me curiously trying to figure it out...for what seemed like forever.

I kept moving and sniffing. And moving and sniffing. I looked up at her with my big brown eyes just wishing I could tell her what was wrong. Then more moving & sniffing at the blob. Finally, she figured it out and said: “Brownie, don't worry. That’s just your shadow!”

We don't like the new bed

We have a new bed in the guest room…we don’t have a reason to go in there very often, unless we have family or friends stay over. We like when we have guests visit, especially our cousins or Grandma or Nico and his mommy & daddy…or Aunt Susie. When she sleeps over, she let’s me (Brownie) snuggle under the covers with her. I (Rocco) don’t like covers…even if it IS Aunt Susie…my fur is all I need to keep warm.

Momma was complaining that she couldn’t store anything under the first bed because it was too low. Now this new one is very tall & she can get all our extra supplies under there. She is very happy. But, it is so high, that I (Brownie) can’t jump up on it—I’m too scared I’ll fall. It IS really high—I (Rocco) jumped up but even I couldn’t make it, not even with my long legs. We’ll both be staying off that bed, unless, of course, we get a lift.

Our City Doctor

Now that we live in the city fulltime, we need to get a new doctor here. Rocco: “Especially with all the gross stuff you want to eat off the sidewalk Brownie.”
Brown: “I’m just sampling what SF has to offer Rocco!”
Rocco: “Disgusting.”

Anyway, momma asked her stylist & friend Alix about Lola’s vet. Alix was very happy to recommend the Marina Pet Hospital on Lombard. Lola has been going there for years. Alix is picky, so momma trusts he’s judgment.

Mommy made the appointment, but made daddy take us. Mommy was afraid the doctor was going to weigh me (Brown) and scold her for feeding me too much...when its really daddy who gives us all the treats & people food.

Daddy liked Dr Melcon. She is very wise and was very gentle with us. But when she picked up Rocco to take take him to be examined, daddy heard her say: “Rocco, you’re a little chubby.”
Rocco: “THAT was humiliating!”
Brownie: "Daddy & I thought it was rather humorous."

Daddy couldn’t wait to get home and tell mommy. He smiled the whole way home.

Brownie's Perfect Bday Dinner

The perfect birthday dinner...

Starts with my favorite dish: Perfectly steamed Halibut. Simple, straightforward, delicious.

Then on to dessert...

My favorite: Fancy Italian Cannolies with carob drizzle. Yes! Happy Birthday to Me (Brownie)

I just can't wait...need just a little lick...No one saw that, did they?

Quick. Blow out the candles.

We have the best momma ever. She breaks up our cannoli into bite size pieces (we are STILL her babies after all)

Slow down Brown. You're going to get a stomach ache.

Time for presents!!!!

Happy Birthday Rocco!

Today is Rocco’s fifth birthday.
I (Brownie) will be 5 in four days.
We’re having Rocco’s birthday dinner tonight.

Aunt Susie is coming to celebrate with us. Yeah!

But we will have to wait till this weekend to open our presents together. (We think momma has not yet gone shopping...so she's probably feeling guilty...we like 'guity gifts'.)

It’s a family tradition that we get to pick what we want for dinner on our birthday. Gramma Rita started this when mommy was a little girl.
Rocco picked Thai food. It’s his favorite. And we all agree Modern Thai on Polk Street is the best in SF.

Mommy makes sure to order enough steamed rice and “plain steamed chicken for the kids” when she calls. ...We think we would like Thailand.

Hurray Dinnertime!

I have a foamy rice mustache AND a grain of rice that I can't get to on my right 'cheek'.

Brownie: “Hey Rocco.”
Rocco: “Yeah Brown?”
B: “What were you dreaming about at 4:32 this morning?”
R: “I don’t remember.”
B: “You woke Mommy & me up because you were talking in your sleep.”
R: “Don’t remember.”
B: “You were tucked in really close to daddy—half hidden under the comforter—with one paw raised over your ear…”
R: “Still not remembering.”
B: “Mommy guessed you were dreaming about the day you were born. I think you were dreaming about your bday dinner. Wonder if we’ll have cake…”
R: “I asked for an ice cream cake.”

Time to sing & then blow out the candles.

Happy Birthday Big Boy!

D-LISH! Nothing better than a Doggie ice cream cake.

Hey, where's my (Brown's) piece?

Drats! Now I(Brown) have an ice cream headache!

What an awesome birthday!

Opening Ceremonies

8 . 8 . 08

Tonight mommy & daddy hurried home from work to watch the Opening Ceremonies of The Summer Olympics. Daddy kept saying it was incredible. Mommhy said it was way more than anything she's seen before...and she's watched every Opening Ceromony since she was a little girl because Gramma Rita lovvvvvvvvves the Olympics.

The Olympics happen every four years, said Rocco. So this is our second Summer event.

I don't remember Sydney at all, said Brownie...But I bet we were snuggled with mom in her chair in Vallejo.

Good Luck U.S.A.
U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!

Ahhh Hhheather

We have a new groomer in the city.

Her name's Heather.

She's fancy.

She's from NYC.

And we like her shampoo & blow dry.

Daddy (the fussy one ) think she rocks!

Mommy is just happy the rasta knots are gone & there's no more "scooting".

Sabbaticals are Overrated

We’re back from a six month sabbatical!

We’d like to tell you we’ve been all over the world in search of the best dog park, dog-friendly hotel and best dog treats…but we’re not allowed to lie. Mommy & daddy would give us a time out…and no one likes a ‘time out’.

Instead of puppy globetrotting, we’ve been helping mommy & daddy settle into the San Francisco condo fulltime. Daddy has a new job in the city & mommy gets to ride a fancy shuttle bus to PayPal in San Jose everyday…except for Fridays (our favorite day of the week) when she gets to work from home.

We’re just glad they’re out of the condo during the day. Now we can get on the computer, access the internet and get back to our adventures.
