Thank God for A/C

It’s been one hot week in Fairfield. Four days in a row of triple digit temps!

Tuesday, Sunny, High 101°

Wednesday, Sunny, High 104°

Thursday, Sunny, High 102°

Today, Friday, Sunny, High 100°

Thank God daddy has the air conditioning set for 78°, otherwise we’d be, dare we say it, really HOT DOGS.

Can you say: Sizzle fo’ shizzle?!?!

Aunt Susie Should Renegotiate

It was reported today that Leona Helmsley left $12 million in her will to her beloved dog Trouble.
Helmsley leaves $12 million for her dog.

Wow.

And he’s to be cared for by Ms. Helmsley's brother Alvin who gets $10 mil.

Double Wow.

We get peanuts in comparison.

And how can OUR named guardian be expected to take care of us on a mere fraction of that amount.

While she’s being asked to care for ‘Double trouble’. So to speak.

We think Aunt Susie needs to renegotiate.

Back to School

The next best thing to cows grazing on the hill is kids walking on the sidewalk.

Today is the first day of school for the kids in the neighborhood. And at the first sound of footsteps this morning, we were on the couch, peering out the window, in time to see the first school bound group walk past.

Naturally we barked...in unison. And we continued to do so for the next 30 minutes or so, as student after student strolled by with clean hair, new clothes and fresh back packs.

What an exciting Monday!

We can't wait till 3:30...

Bath time

I hate the bath.

It is humiliating.
This is not my idea of fun.

Travel Sundays

Lately Sunday has been a travel day. We spend the morning in Fairfield & then sometime in the afternoon, we load up the car for the long ride to SF.

“Its not that long Rocco”, said Brownie.

“Well it seems long to me (Rocco).”

“At least you’re not drooling uncontrollably and throwing up like you used to do.”

“Thank you for reminding me with that visual, Brownie.”

Anyway, today we all got into the car for the ride. But, when we got off the freeway, nothing looked familiar. We were definitely NOT in the San Francisco. I (Rocco) started getting nervous.
I (Brownie) was in a deep sleep dreaming about cows.

Daddy pulled into a parking lot. Mommy got out to “buy her ticket”. A minute later we were leased up & walking near the water.

Then mommy came over & gave us some good scratches and pets and she whispered to us that she asked at the counter but “no puppies are allowed on the ferry. No four-legged babies on the boat.”

After a couple more minutes of undivided attention, she gave us each one of her special ‘Mommy kisses’. Then she stood up, kissed daddy, & told us all she loved us and slowly turned and walked down the ramp and onto the Baylink Ferry.

As we walked away, we were all a little sad, including daddy. But then he said to us “Don’t worry pups. We’ll see momma on Wednesday.”

But, we know she’ll miss us sooner than that, and will call to talk to us tonight.
We love our momma.

Brownie's Not Finished Playing

I want to play. I want to play with the hose.

I'm not done playing with it! I'm not done yet, I tell you.

Got to get it. Got to get it! Almost got it.

Daddy said "There are TEETH MARKS on the nozzle."
"Don't look at me," mommy said. "I guess she wasn't done playing with the hose."

We celebrated our 4th birhdays tonight with lots of presents and our favorite dinner and dog bone shaped birthday cake complete with candles.

We had a special dinner of roated chicken breast, steamed brown rice and pureed carrots & peas!
Yummy!

And look at this peanut butter and carob cake!

Mommy, daddy & Aunt Susie sang happy birthday to us and then we got to enjoy a big piece of cake!

We couldn't wait for momma to put it on our plates before digging in!

It was our best birthday EVER!

Birthday Week

Today starts our birthday week!

August 12th is MY (Rocco) birthday. Mommy & daddy woke me up with happy birthday wishes. I’m happy.

Then they took us to Starbuck's…where they go every weekend. It was very exciting. I (Rocco) felt so grown up.

But, I (Brown) was scared. I was shaking like a leaf. I didn't understand what was going on. Then daddy came out of the door and brought us tasty banana bread & oatmeal cookie bites. I stopped shaking. Gobbled up breakfast and licked the table clean.

Lots of yummy treats are in store for us this week.

My (Brownie) birthday is Thursday, August 16th.

And we're havign a little birthday party is Wednesday, the 15th.

Can you say: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US?

Cows

They're home! Back from their vacation.

They're back. The cows are back!

And we're SOOOOO happy!!!

Mommy & daddy spotted the cows on the hill this morning when they came back with their coffee. They couldn't wait to tell us.

They got our leashes and took us out for a walk.

We needed to welcome the cows 'back' after their long vacation.

We were very excited.

But, though we searched, we didn't see any familar faces...

Panda, Brown Bear, Mocha Loca...Where are you?

And we caused a stampeed when we ran to say hello.

Who are these cows?

And why did I (Rooco) risk getting burs, twigs & prickly underbrush tangled in my fur just to say hi to them?

I can not move.

Stuff is everywhere.

Help mommy!

Red Fire Hose

Mommy & daddy brought us a new toy tonight. Well, actually 2 new toys—we each got one. Mommy likes to make sure things are fair, even though I (Rocco) couldn’t care less about silly toys. I just want to sit on her lap & gaze up at her lovingly…

Whatever Rocco. I (Brownie) love presents. And this one is especially cool! It’s a REAL red fire hose. I couldn’t wait to chase it down and bring it back to mommy. Again and again. Fetch was never so fun.

I (Brown) think I want to be a firedog when I grow up!

Well I (Rocco) think you better stop ripping the hoses apart then.
