Baking Cookies

We’re excited this morning. It’s Tuesday and that means our friend Terry is coming to visit…and bringing us cookies, of course. He kind of reminds us of a grandpa. You know, the way grandparents always bring special treats that parents don’t normally give their kids.

He is such a nice man. We really like him & he really likes us too. Last week I (Rocco) even gave him a couple thank you kisses. I (Brown) ALWAYS give him thank you kisses. It’s the polite thing to do.

Anyway, we’re especially excited today because mommy helped us bake chocolate chip cookies for Terry. We figured that he always brings us cookies, wouldn’t it be nice to give him some…the people kind of course. Mommy said that saying thank you is very important, but it’s extra special when you show people you appreciate them.

Terry was surprised when we gave him the cookies. He said chocolate chip are his favorite and he thanked us. Then he gave us three doggy cookies each!

We made Terry happy today. And that made us happy too.

We are Rocco & Brownie Atterbury and have lived in the City by the Bay, San Francisco, with our mommy and daddy full time for seven years now.

We can't remember our country homes in Solano, nor our big backyard, nor the cows on the surrounding hills... Although mommy likes to tell us stories about when we were wee country pups.

We've adapted quite nicely to our city life. We love our big window overlooking the hustle & bustle & cablecars on California Street.

Hi. My name is Brownie.

I’m a Jack Russell Terrier 100%. I’m very friendly when meeting people. But I really don't like other dogs. Professionals refer to me as a 'reactive dog' and that can be problematic in San Francisco. Also, when out, I pull, sniff and constantly search for something to gobble up. I listen when mommy says 'drop it'. But I'm daddy's boss, so he needs to listen to me. My all-time favorite thing to do is play fetch with my prize possession my 'vintage' brown Chewy Vuitton purse.

HOLA, BONJOUR, CIAO. I am ROCCO.

I am a smart and TALL Papillon. Humans remarks about my beauty. But they assume I am a girl dog because I am so pretty. C’est la vie. I am, who I am. And I am fancy. I don't walk, I prance. I would never ever eat something off of the sidewalk. I don't like getting dirty so walks on the beach our out. As are muddy, busy dog park. Although I am easily bored with fetch, I do enjoy tug-of-war on occasion and stealing any toy that has Brownie's attention. My very favorite person in the whole wide world is my momma. I follow her around…well, like a puppy.

Our Story

Daddy adopted us from two different garages in Fairfield on Halloween 2003. We quickly got used to each other and now we are inseparable.

He was a good daddy back then, except he would always put us in our crates when he left the house and at night. It was boring, lonely and a little cramped.

Then he met mommy & fell in love. At first she was unsure of life with dogs. But we quickly melted her heart. (Really, how could she resist these faces?)

Soon she convinced daddy to leave us out of our cages longer and longer. Now we don’t even know what crates are. The best part is curling up & settling in on the big, comfy bed at night. We love our bed.
